Middle School Home / Academics / Middle School Taking Your Child To The Next Level In middle school (6th–8th grade), our students learn important life skills like staying organized, being responsible, and trying their best even when things are hard. These skills help them get ready for high school and beyond. They also start to discover who they are as individuals and how they can be part of the world around them. At the same time, we make sure to support their social-emotional growth during these important years. Schedule a Tour Beyond Academics Engaging Environment In elementary school, students learn by using their imagination, playing, and exploring how things work. In middle school, students learn by watching, thinking carefully, and using what they know in real-life ways. Their lessons follow a simple pattern: teach, create, reflect. First, they are taught something new. Then, they do a hands-on activity to practice it. Finally, they think about what they learned and how it connects to other ideas. These activities help our students stay curious, work together as a team, and build strong character while they grow and learn. Innovative Spaces At Paragon Prep, our teachers use many fun and exciting ways to help our students learn. These include hands-on activities, online lessons, group projects, personal choices, lectures, lab experiments, simulations, and more. By learning in different ways, our students become flexible and ready to succeed in any high school, whether it’s a magnet or a private school. Small Class Sizes Having the right class size is very important for learning. In our middle school, classrooms have averaged about 18 students for the past 20 years. This smaller class size helps students get the attention and support they need to succeed. In comparison, middle school classes in Austin public schools can be much larger, sometimes with 30 or even 40 students, because there is no limit on class sizes. Excellent Electives Paragon middle school students are encouraged to join elective activities that meet before, during, or after the school day. Elective options include band, art, student government, technology classes, chess club, and competitive sports.
